For the remainder of the season, Karachi Kings, a franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), have announced a replacement for injured fast bowler Mir Hamza.
Hamza took eight wickets for the Kings in four games last season.Akif, Hamza’s replacement, has previously played for Islamabad United, which won the Pakistan Super League twice.
Hamza is the third fast bowler to miss PSL 8 in the past two days.
Akif Javed has been selected by Karachi Kings to take Mir Hamza’s place for the remainder of HBL Pakistan Super League 8.
In Tuesday’s opening match at the National Bank Cricket Arena against Peshawar Zalmi, Hamza broke the index figure of his bowler arm.
On the fourth ball of the second over, the left-arm fast attempted to stop Babar Azam’s straight drive in his follow through. However, the ball ricocheted off his hand and onto the stumps of the non-striker, sending Saim Ayub back to the pavilion as he emerged from his crease.He was able to bowl another eight balls during the match, scoring one for 13 in two overs. Prior to the incident, he had thrown two balls at Mohammad Haris.
Peshawar Zalmi prevailed by just two runs in a contest that swung like a pendulum.
Injured Mir Hamza replaced with Akif Javed in Karachi Kings squad and Akif Javed has previously played for Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars.
