The Quetta Gladiators campaign keeps moving from one catastrophe to the next but Lahore win by 63 runs Quetta Gladiators vs Lahore Qalandars PSL 2023 Match 8. Quetta put on a pathetic performance against the ruthless Lahore Qalandars, losing by 63 runs, just hours after it was announced that their Platinum pick, Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, would not play in the entire PSL. The lopsided scorecard did not in any way benefit the Gladiators, as the 2019 champions never got closer than 199 to the defending champions.

Shaheen Shah Afridi was the batsman who led his team, knocking Gladiators out of the game early on and sometimes literally knocking batters off their feet. Numerous top-order batters were stung on the toes by unplayable inswinging yorkers; Jason Roy ended up lying on his stomach flat. Naturally, the first-over wicket that had to be taken was Abdul Bangalzai, who was run out for a golden duck. To get rid of Mohammad Hafeez, he made an incredible diving catch. Odean Smith was completely deceived by a lovely pace trick. It was a masterclass by Shaheen Afridi.
Although Haris Rauf had a bad day, the Qalandars bowling lineup was flawless in every way except for him. Rashid Khan, playing his first game of the year, bounced back from a rough SA20 period to play at his masterful best. His wicket of Roy, who scored a 30-ball 48 with five sixes, effectively ended any chance of a chase, and his figures of 4-0-17-1 were well-deserved. Even David Wiese took three wickets in his full quota, going 3 for 23. The outcome was predetermined long before the final delivery was bowled, despite brief flashes of resistance from the Gladiators’ batters.

When Tahir Baig and Fakhar Zaman got Gladiators off to a roaring start, it was clear that the game was going in a certain direction. Mohammad Hafeez opened the bowling for the Combatants, and Baig quickly pursued him, pummeling him for two fours and a six in that first finished. In the powerplay, Baig picked up two boundaries on either side of square, so even the offended Naseem Shah wouldn’t be spared.
Before Fakhar nicked off to the keeper, the partnership had reached 49 in 27 balls. However, Qalandars continued in this manner all the way through, with a 56-run stand between Kamran Ghulam and Shai Hope serving as the middle overs’ foundation. Hussain Talat’s cameo and Sikandar Raza’s unbeaten final flurry, in which he smashed 32 in 16, ensured that Gladiators never quite found any breathing room and were powerless to stop them from reaching 200.Lahore win by 63 runs Quetta Gladiators vs Lahore Qalandars PSL 2023

However, there is one notable exception. Mohammad Hasnain’s heroic performance against Peshawar Zalmi 24 hours earlier was repeated today. He was the only bowler who was truly able to stop Lahore in their tracks, especially at the end, when he was at his most spectacular, mixing up the lengths and speeds with skill. Qalandars’ score and Gladiators’ margin of defeat would have been much higher if not for his two final overs, which only allowed 14 runs.
The game tonight appears to have demonstrated that Qalandars’ loss to Karachi Kings was an anomaly, while Gladiators’ performance only appeared to confirm that their victory over the same opponent was also an anomaly.
