Quetta Gladiators won By 6 Runs || Quetta Beat Karachi In PSL 8. After losing by six runs to Quetta Gladiators in the sixth match of Pakistan Super League 2023, Karachi Kings will keep trying to win for the first time this season. In PSL 8, Shoaib Malik made a brave fifty, but it was in vain as Karachi Kings lost for the third time in a row.
Karachi Kings, chasing 169 runs to win, got off to a bad start as well when openers Sharjeel Khan and Haider Ali were run out for 5-ball and 4-ball ducks, respectively. During his 14-ball stay, James Vince scored 22 runs, and Naseem uprooted the opener’s stumps in the fifth over.
However, in the final overs, experience ace batter Shoaib Malik maintained the crease and switched gears. Shoaib hit eight fours and one six for an unbeaten 74 runs off 49 balls. But in the 18th and 19th overs, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Hasnain bowled brilliantly to keep Quetta Gladiators just short of the target.
Mohammad Amir took one wicket, while Imad Wasim and Aamer Yamin each took three. Martin Guptill stepped up to score a glittering ton in the first innings, when the batting unit was falling apart like a house of cards.
He helped Quetta Gladiators reach 168/7 in 20 overs, which is commendable because he was able to weather the early storm caused by the opposition skipper Imad Wasim to help his team out of trouble.
In the first over of the innings, Imad Wasim struck twice and struck out Abdul Bangatzai and Jason Roy. Wasim dismissed captain Sarfaraz Khan in his next over, and Aamer Yamin dismissed captain Umar Akmal shortly after the powerplay to reduce Quetta to 23/4 in 6.1 overs.
After that, Martin Guptill and Iftikar Ahmed held the crease for a while and contributed 69 runs for the 5th wicket. Before getting out against Mohammad Amir in the fifteenth over, Iftikhar scored 32 runs in 27 balls, including three fours.
Martin Guptill drove in 117 runs in 67 balls, including 12 fours and 5 sixes, despite the fact that none of the other batters were able to reach double digits. Imad Wasim and Aamer Yamin each took three wickets for the Karachi Kings. Additionally, Mohammad Amir took a wicket.
